Project summary - MUGA Installation
This project delivered a compact but highly effective Multi Use Games Area, transforming an underused section of the playground into a vibrant and versatile sports facility.
The new MUGA provides pupils with a dedicated space for football, hockey and general active play, ensuring reliable all-weather use throughout the year.

The brief
The school wanted to increase the amount of usable outdoor sports space but faced constraints due to limited available area.
Key priorities included:
Creating a dedicated sports area within a compact footprint
Providing an all-weather surface
Installing rebound fencing to contain play
Delivering a durable, long-term solution
Supporting multiple sports and general play
The solution needed to maximise functionality within the available space with this MUGA installation.
Our solution
Our solution focused on delivering a fully enclosed, compact MUGA that offers excellent sports performance and durability.
By combining rebound fencing with a high-quality artificial sports surface, we created a complete and professional facility suited to everyday school use.
Key features
12m x 24m Multi Use Games Area
MUGA rebound fencing system
Integrated recessed football goal mouths
Artificial sports turf surface
Football line markings

Design approach:
The compact dimensions were optimised to provide a fully functional sports space while maintaining safe run-off areas and clear visibility.
The integrated goal ends allow pupils to play without additional equipment, improving accessibility and ease of use.
The enclosed design ensures safe, contained play while making the space feel like a dedicated sports facility.
Materials & surfacing
A premium 2G artificial sports surface was installed, providing a durable and hardwearing playing surface suitable for multiple sports.
This offers:
Excellent durability
Low maintenance requirements
Year-round usability
Consistent playing performance
The installation also included a MUGA powder-coated rebound fencing system, providing secure containment and long-term structural reliability.

Installation
The project included full excavation, installation of new stone sub-base and installation of the artificial sports surface.
The rebound fencing system and integrated goals were then installed to complete the facility.
The project was delivered efficiently, transforming the space into a high-quality sports area.
The outcome
The completed MUGA has created a fantastic new sports facility within a compact area.
Pupils now have access to a safe, engaging and all-weather space that supports sport, physical activity and play throughout the year.
This project demonstrates how even smaller spaces can be transformed into highly effective sports facilities.
