A New SEN Playground for Swaffham School: A Space Designed for Every Child

We’re delighted to share one of our latest completed projects, a brand-new outdoor play space designed specifically for the SEN pupils at Swaffham School.

Completed last week, this beautifully crafted area has been created to support a wide range of sensory, physical and developmental needs. The space combines accessible equipment, calming zones and opportunities for movement, exploration and imaginative play, all carefully chosen to enrich the everyday experience of the children who use it.

Designed With SEN Needs at the Heart

Every element of the new play space at Swaffham School has been selected to offer meaningful benefits:

Sensory stimulation & regulation

From swings to climbing trails, the equipment provides pupils with positive sensory experiences that help with emotional regulation and confidence.

A safe and predictable layout

Clear sightlines, grouped play zones and accessible pathways ensure the environment feels structured and secure — essential for helping SEN pupils feel comfortable and independent outdoors.

Inclusive equipment for all abilities

The playground features a mix of swings, balance elements, climbing structures and a slide, all positioned to encourage participation at every ability level. Ground-level items and wide transfer spaces ensure no child is left out of the fun.

Built to support physical development

The timber trail challenges core strength, balance, coordination and motor planning in a way that’s engaging, not overwhelming.

A Space That Will Grow With the Children

This project is more than a playground — it’s a place for:

  • social connection

  • developing confidence

  • sensory exploration

  • outdoor learning

  • and simply enjoying being active

The natural timber aesthetic blends beautifully with the school grounds, and the open layout gives pupils the freedom to move safely while staff maintain clear visibility.

We’re Proud to Support Swaffham School

It’s been a pleasure working with the team at Swaffham School to bring this project to life. Seeing the finished space, and imagining the daily impact it will have on pupils, is exactly why we love what we do.

If your SEN school is looking to develop a new outdoor space or upgrade existing equipment, we’d be happy to help create an environment that’s safe, inclusive and built around your pupils’ needs.
